What are sex related diseases and how do you get them and are they curable and can you fix them?

Ok I'm under the age of 14(not giving age) but my parents are divorce and because of that they don't talk to me about sex. So I know there is aids std's herpes HIV but what I wanna know is what do they affect you, how do you prevent getting them, are they curable? I just wanna know so that way if I do have sex I know how to prevent getting them. Thanks any good answers will help!
